How do you plant a tree so that it has the best chance of survival? As part of the intervention on tree planting, nurturing and protection, our partner Green4Change Ghana has started the implementation phase with farmers of 20 communities in Northern Ghana bordering the Mole National Park.
In the coming weeks, the team will visit farmers and train them on tree planting, and facilitate the discussion about how farmers would like to improve their environment towards a better future for their kids, how they envision healthy landscapes, and which feelings they connect to it. After this training period, farmers will receive seedlings of different kinds of species to plant on their land. In the coming months, constant support visits will ensure that farmers can share and solve their challenges and that as many seedlings as possible survive. An impending famine in Ghana due to persistent drought during the rainy season has prompted our team to reorganize parts of the tree planting campaign, to help address issues of irrigation
