Improving sanitation

Improving sanitation2

In many regions of the world, many people still practice open defecation; households have inadequate latrines or do not use them. Many households discharge their toilets into open drainage, and toilets are poorly maintained, meaning that they can pose a serious health risk. We analyze the drivers of and barriers to constructing (or purchasing or renting) and using toilets, improving and maintaining toilets, and investing in connection to a sewer system (the last mile).

Improving sanitation1

We examine the psychosocial and contextual drivers of these behaviors and develop appropriate behavior change interventions.
