On behalf of the Mobility Department of the City of Munich, Ranas conducted a representative cross-sectional survey. This was intended to determine the behavioural factors that motivate or prevent compliance with speed limits in urban traffic.
Participants who exceed the speed limits more often and further think that speed limits cost them valuable time and take away their freedom, get bored and annoyed when they stick to the speed limit, feel relaxed and good when driving faster, and have more of the feeling of being “themselves”, when they drive faster. The following situations are particularly challenging for participants who exceed the speed limits: fast flow of traffic, entering a 30 km/h zone, hurry.
We look forward to using these findings to support the development of further elements of the “Merci Dir” campaign.
