Since 2023, RANAS has been advising the Mobility Department of the City of Munich, the creative collective Sichtbarmacher and Archetype on the design and evaluation of the road safety campaign “Merci Dir!”. Through positive messages, the campaign encourages and empowers road users in Munich to be more considerate and relaxed on the roads.
Through regular cross-sectional surveys, RANAS investigates how Munich residents perceive issues such as speed limits, distraction and safe turning manoeuvres. On this basis, we recommend the most promising communication mechanisms for the “Merci Dir!” campaign.
Our evaluations have shown that the campaign is effective. After visiting the installation “Stimmungsbarometer” at the Winter Tollwood Festival in 2023, participants showed a significantly higher intention to drive slowly. Following the city-wide poster campaign on distraction in the summer of 2025, drivers who had seen the campaign reported being more focused on the road while driving.
We are delighted that this work has now been recognised: “Merci Dir” has won the Recognition Prize of the 2026 Bavarian Road Safety Awards. We would like to thank our clients at Mobility Department of the City of Munich and partners Sichtbarmacher and Archetype. It is an honour and a pleasure to be part of this!
