RANAS campaign effectively increased tree planting and tree survival in Ghana

Our three-year project in Ghana for planting trees, nurturing tree seedlings and protecting existing trees came to a close with promising results. Evaluation and monitoring data showed that employing systematic behaviour change using the RANAS methodology leads to much higher survival rates than standard campaigning. These results were accomplished under drought conditions predominant in 2024. Other organizations working in the area informally reported much lower survival rates than even the standard campaigning in our project.

We hope that we can expand our work by enhancing a tree planting project with additional aspects that showed relevance: Alternative livelihood options, female empowerment, and advocacy efforts are needed to further increase the impact of such projects.
