In many countries of the world, the proper disposal of garbage is a big issue that causes health as well as environmental problems. It is often the case that even where garbage collection systems are operational, households litter their garbage in the environment. Many cities suffer from an overflow of garbage and are therefore trying to introduce garbage separation (separation of paper, cardboard, metal and vegetable matter) at household level for recycling and composting. We determine the drivers of and barriers to these behaviors to help you develop interventions tailored to your target population.
