Multi-year study on road safety in Munich

With the Vision Zero, the City of Munich is striving for the vision of no deaths and no serious injuries in road traffic. A communication campaign, that was developed based on the RANAS approach, aims at encouraging road users to behave more considerately and thus contribute to the Vision Zero.

Ranas has developed an evaluation concept for the campaign, which includes experimental and cross-sectional elements using both, quantitative and qualitative data:

  • At the Winter Tollwood festival 2023 the Ranas team interviewed visitors of an installation on road safety before and after they interacted with an installation. This evaluation showed that the installation increased commitment to safe traffic behaviors.
  • Through an online survey in winter 2024, we are quantifying the behavioral factors associated with adherence to tempo limits to inform the development of 2025 campaign activities.
